...and ice-skating at the weekend proved it! I'm aching today and I've got some lovely bruises too, but at least K has a good time, which was the whole point. The 3 birthday weekends have kicked off and I also managed to finalise some further details today for some other stuff, hooray! I just need to make a shopping list and do some shopping.
Back to fitness, it appears my video game of choice is gonna help me...check this out! I guess I need to make sure I don't compensate with a mountain of cake!
A re-boot of a blog nobody read. A way for me to track the good things in my life (of which there are many).

Blue
Feeling a little down today and not sure why. Perhaps its the rain, perhaps its work or something, I don't know.
Trying to fill some time by downloading even more music to iTunes. It seems no matter how much music I put on it, there never feels like enough on my iPod when I'm at work. Perhaps I should have got the more expensive (read: higher capacity) model for Christmas. Anyway, G&S is flavour of the day at the moment and I've just put The Mikado & Yeomen onto it. Its a bit weird considering that this year I don't think I'm going to sing with the the local society. I want to try something new but I haven't quite worked out what yet. I think it'll very much depend on what show they decide to do. If its one I like, I might sign up again. The problem is I feel a weight of responsibility...I'm young and a tenor...something which is prized in local societies like ours. The problem is that I start to resent being there when its 2 or 3 times a week, especially when work is being poo.
Finished the Ultimate Galactus graphic nvels Richard got me for Christmas last night. Really enjoyed them but got a little confused with the Ultimate Silver Surfer (if that was indeed him) and wasn't sure about the teenage Ultimate Fantastic Four. And Nick Fury seems far more arrogant and personifying what is bad about americans in these than in the actual Ultimates books themselves.
Anyway better dash, she's home and I want a kiss!

Spend a penny?
The Penny Arcade blog was good today with one particular phrase sticking in my mind. With refernce to the rumour of Playstaton 3s being stockpiled around the world and no-one buying them, Tycho's summation was "Nobody knows shit. We're pinning ethereal tails on ephemeral donkeys."
Poor Wand'ring one!
The novelty of my iPod has yet to wear off and for that I am glad. Listened to a good section of The Pirates of Penzance on my walk back to the car from the office. It was that bit where the ladies first come on and they meet Frederic and then sing about the weather...super! While I remember there's a Radio 2 documentary running on Sunday evenings about Gilbert & Sullivan....missed the first but should be able to get it on Listen Again.
It was good that I had something to listen to as the North Gate was closed when I left and I had to trudge around to the main gate. Usually I wouldn't mind the extra time but it was cold , dark, windy and wet and every extra step was resented. To be fair it was my own fault for skiving off early but a conversation with M at work had left me wanting to get home to make dinner. We had a couple of chicken thighs left over from Saturday (Cous-cous and pine nut stuffed, chicken thigh, baked and served on a rocket and herb salad with orange and mustard dressing) and my mind was reeling at the possibilities! Chicken & sweetcorn broth with quinoa is simmering on the hob as I type! Yum!
Managed to finish the story mode on Rabbids yesterday and unlocked a load of extra challenges. Hopefully they'll fill some time before some more games come out. I'm tempted to get Marvel: Ultimate Alliance despite its mediocre ratings as I know K and I will have a blast playing it but I've got to watch my cash as we seem to be spend, spend, spend at the mo. And thats not even thinking about K's upcoming 30th birthday, the plans for which are very definitely afoot but need some additional effort on my part to fully coalesce.

Wii Blog 2
K's family have an uncanny knack of calling right in the middle of something! Ohh finished now, back to Doctor Who dvd!
DIY
Managed to have a pretty successful weekend all in all.
With the new year comes the desire to sort the house out and we made a pretty good start this weekend. Now that the plaster on the stairs & landing walls is fully dry (I left it 7 months just to be sure) we've repainted and it looks pretty good. 2 layers of miscoat and a final top coat (although it may need some touching up tomorrow) and its done. The woodwork was all re-done too.
We also went and ordered the new carpets as well. These will go through the lounge & dining room and then up the stairs and onto the landing. It's going to cost about what I'd budgeted for but more than I wanted to pay. In the end it wasn't really the carpet that cost it was the underlay (underlay, underlay, heba, heba), gripper rods and bits and bobs. The fitting was going to be the most expensive I though but that worked out at £104. The way I'm looking at it is that we'll enjoy it for another year and then it'll help sell the house when the time comes.

Phew!
Its Friday and I have the weekend stretched out in front of me.
To be honest I'm not sure how I'd have managed a full week this week, my body is trying to acclimatise to getting up and keeping focussed on work! Although the weekend does involve a bit of work as well. Painting mainly and ordering new carpet. That's right folks, its DIY time!
In other news I managed to finish Zelda last night...a tip for anyone is to leave yourself a good 45 minutes for the final boss. What with cinematics, the fight and credits we were forced to stay up until gone 11 while it finished. Was bloody good though. It managed to take around 40 hours which for a game these days is good value. Not sure if I'm going to go back to a previous save and try to collect everything...will have to see if I get bored with Rayman.

First Day Back!!
It wasn't too bad in the end and even managed to do a heap of work. It did drag rather in the morning but then zipped along as I got engrossed in manual reassignment of resource request properties for the monthly dashboard (yes, my job IS thrill a minute!)
One thing that is better about being at home rather than at work (apart from all the obvious things) is that you can fart without fear...I was holding them in like no-one's business today, although I think one may have slipped out! My car does stink a bit though. Apologies if I've offended anyone but at least I'm not contemplating an online poo-diary (or log-blog, if you will) like someone I know!
Got great use out of the iPod as well and have just spent the last 30 minutes making some new playlists for it...exciting!

Thank you Mr & Mrs Palmer....
...for I think I caught something from you on Sunday!
Should be back at work today but full of cold so have decided to get rid of it proper before venturing out and back to work tomorrow. Although can't say I've missed much as my work email has received only spam so far today.
Sunday was the now traditional New year's Eve murder party where I got to play the lovely Lucy Loveless who turned out to be the murderer! Hooray, first time for me!
You can check out the rest of the holiday photos over on Flickr.
